Interview with Alexandra,
Sim Self and City Planner of Paragon City
Hey there, good to see you! My name is Areanne Moscato, and
today I was invited to Alexandra’s House to learn a bit more about the biggest
project she’s ever taken on: Paragon City and it’s role as a connecting medium
for Sims all over the world.
“So tell me, Alex, how and when did this whole idea pop into
your head?”
Well, a long time ago I stumbled over this awesome web site.
It was a representative symbol for everything that we, The Sims, are about. It
had articles about aspirations, the hood was self-sufficient, it was really
amazing. This way of representing a hood has since fueled my desire to involve
other Sims and Humans to come together in an act of kinship. Now, finally, I am
in the right circumstances to turn this desire into reality.
“Can you tell us a bit more about what Paragon City is a
symbol for?”
It’s about the Sims’ way of life. There are so many things
to discover, and one by itself can’t do it. We want, in a communal effort, to establish
a database for other Sim Nations out there and in return, learn about how they
live. It really doesn’t matter if you are from the first, second, third or even
fourth installment of our Series. Every Sim has a story to tell and I want to
get these stories out there.
“What is your goal for the website once it is funded?
Beside a wealth of information and articles I want to bring
people together in their common interest. Of course there will be the Court of
Law, where Sim Nation can vote for certain circumstances in the hood. But I
also want the web site to be a hommage to The Sims all over the world. It is
the one thing that is important for me. Don’t forget about Sims from the previous
installments, just because there’s new stuff out there.
“Can’t you just start one of those free websites? Why do you
raise funds for this?”
No. The wealth of videos, Articles, pictures and other daily
publications will not even hold a third of what we are trying to accomplish in
Paragon City. We do need more web space for this project so we don’t run out of
space within the first 3 months and then become stagnant even for a week. I
truly believe that, if this project will be funded, it is something never seen
before. Because it doesn’t stop growing. There will always be something to
write about. But the web space to grow, that needs funds.
“Why should people support your cause?”
I believe that many folks have one thing that they loved
when they were younger. Sometimes, over the years, these things become
forgotten. Wouldn’t it be nice, if someone made an effort and go above and
beyond to make sure this doesn’t happen?
The website we are planning is just that: An effort to make
sure that the earlier versions of us Sims won’t just go away and fade. I
understand that many people ask themselves why they should contribute.
The answer is fairly simple: Because you’re not the only
ones who would like to have a reference or memory database about how awesome some
things can be. We just need to pull together. Paragon City will one day, I
hope, still be there when barely anyone remembers. I’m talking years and years
from now. Those people might find the web site… and just smile, browsing
through it, reminiscing.
“Any other sneak peeks you are willing to share?”
There’s gonna be new stuff every day throughout the
campaign. Just keep checking in via Twitter, Facebook or YouTube. Something new
is bound to pop up for sure.
“And what happens if you don’t get funded?”
I guess I’ll just keep trying. For me, it’s really worth the
effort and time it takes. I don’t expect to get the entire project funded. But
if we can manage to get just a little financial support, it will make it that
much easier and faster. I know I will
still be here and loving The Sims like I have from the start. Hey, it’s been
seven years and barely a day went by without anything Sims related. So giving
up is not really an option.
"Thank you very much Alexandra, and good luck to you!"
